Custom / Dataset properties
Important notice: when viewing a local dataset, this section is called Custom properties. On an online dataset, it is called Dataset properties. Functionally, the actions below work in the same way.
- Create an empty property by clicking on the + button - Create a property from a .txt file by clicking on the folder button |
Menu shown when creating an empty property. Add a name and select a property type using the dropdown. |
List of available properties on the dataset, sorted by category
Important notice: when viewing a local dataset, the Custom properties are properties that are added by the user (such as the lineage/tracking, etc.). Dataset properties are properties automatically created by MorphoNet from the images of the dataset. by default, only volume is loaded, and more can be loaded afterwards (loading a property for the first time requires computing, which may take some time on large datasets). Loaded properties are then loaded all time, which may slow down when doing curations with plugins. Unloading a property may be faster afterwards, but it will require recomputing if it is loaded again afterwards. See more on dataset properties here
Depending on property type, there is an icon on the side of the property button:

Lineage/tracking property |

Dictionary/ key-value property |

Applying a property
Once it has been loaded by clicking on the Load button (some properties are loaded by default, such as the temporal property), click on a property in the list to set it as active. Active properties are shown in green, and a menu will open to display it (the menu is different for each proeprty type) |

Number properties

| Icon |

Name of the property and value on selected object (average value if several objects are selected) |
Apply the property on selected objects, or the whole dataset if no objects are selected |
clear the property on selected objects, or the whole dataset if no objects are selected |
Select a colormap with which to apply the property |
Threshold slider: will map the values of the property on the colormap from the min value to the max values. Defaults at min and max of property on whole dataset. All values lower than the min value will be of the color on the left of the colormap, and all values higher than the max will have the color on the right of the colormap |
Set the min and max thresholds from the selected object(s). Will automatically pick the min and max values from the property value range in the selected objects |
Select all objects at current time step that have property values between the min and max threshold set by the slider. |
expand the menu to have more options |
When expanding the menu for more options, it will look like this:

| Icon |

Customize the min and max bounds of current colormap (will update upon applying the colormap), and preview what it will look like |
Choose whether the colormap will be displayed on the main color, or the secondary color on objects. Useful if displaying 2 number properties at the same time |
Text properties
Activate the text property on the dataset. Will show the value when hovering over objects, and for selected objects in the value on selection field. |
Other property types
Other property types apply generically with this simple menu:
Activate or clear the property on the dataset. Will show the value for selected objects in the value on selection field. |
Annotate a property
On any property, click on the pencil button to annotate the property for the selected object(s). Will set the property value entered in the text field for the selected object(s) upon validation. |
Property management
Requires rights on online datasets: On any property, when the menu is expanded with the + button, you can delete the property, download it, and/or manage whether the property is shared to anyone that can view the dataset. |
